A Pathways student

Program Activity Snapshot:
To enhance students’ success in school:
- We provided youth with a hot breakfast at school every morning, spent with Pathways staff and their peers
- Youth provided feedback on the breakfast menus and helped serve the food
- We engaged students in health and nutrition micro-learning opportunities
Objectives:
- Create a welcoming environment for youth to socialize and learn
- Increase youth participation in Pathways activities
- Build stronger connections with young people to better support them
What was the result?
- Helped youth connect with and learn from their families
- Youth gained skills and experiences to support career success:
- Students completed the Safe Food Handling training and certification necessary to work in the food industry
- By helping to plan the menus and serve the food, students developed transferrable skills such as teamwork, organizational, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills
